What’s Stephen Ward About
From 3rd December 2013 , guests on a Stephen Ward theatre break can be part of the world premiere of this scandalous theatre production. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyric by Christopher Hampton, the production of Stephen Ward has become one of the most highly anticipated productions of the year.Stephen Ward deals with the victim of the Profumo Affair, John Profumo himself, the disgraced Minister for War. In a trial as emblematic to the twentieth century as Oscar Wilde’s was to the nineteenth – from which he was the only protagonist to emerge with some dignity and honour – Stephen Ward became the targeted scapegoat of a furiously self-righteous Establishment. By no means a hero, he was a reluctant martyr, thanks to an unholy alliance between Press and police. Watch the story unfold to see how Stephen Ward became a pivotal part in the revolution of manners, music and morals when the 1950’s give way to the unstoppable sixties.Performance times for Stephen Ward are as follows:Monday to Saturday: 7.30pmWednesday and Saturday matinees: 2.30pm
